Got a VISA!! Hinako Takahata in Germany, and Doraemon's birthday

Finally, I got the Visa allows me staying here for more 2 years.
I can stay in the UK until August 2014!!

That has been really a long time. I applied it in the early April, and got it now, so it's been almost 5 months.
I missed lots of things as I didn't have my Visa, but hope everything will be going well from now on.

By the way, I am going to Germany next week!
That is for seeing my favourite Japanese manga artist, Hinako Takanaga.
Website
This is only Japanese though. (better not to go if you don't know the word YAOI)

She will be in the event KONNICHI in Germany from 7-9th September.
But she is also signing at a book store in Dusseldorf on 11th.
I'm afraid I cannot go to the event KONNICHI, but I could have a day off on 11th!
So I will go there with my friend, and see some towns and drink beer!!

Can't wait...

And I also hope that I can go back to Japan sometime in October.

Oh, I also have to mention this.
3rd September was our idol, Doraemon's birthday!!
He will actually be born 100 years later. So this was a really special birthday.
Don't you think this is great to celebrate someone's birthday, but he is not born yet!
Hope to see him in the future and hope he will be loved for ever.

Doraemon is not something I would say 'I love it' when I introduce my self.
However, he is such a popular and famous character as everyone knows about him.
I haven't met someone who doesn't know him at all.
He is in our life, our culture and our heart. We wouldn't have our childhood without him.
He is like that kind of character living with us naturally.

When we realise, he has been always there, entertains us, and give us dreams and excitements!
Even when I get older, I still love him and never forget.
He is a treasure of Japan.

Happy Birthday Doraemon!

Tezuka on TV

Ohhhhh

I've just watched NHK WORLD 'imagine-nation'!!
That was great! Of course that was the basic ideas of Osamu Tezuka,
and I think all of you guys know it already about these stuff,
but still so excited that Tezuka is introduced on the TV which lots of non-Japanese can watch!

Next time, I want them to introduce more his works or messages,
not just only the basic ideas to know about him.
Like the Tezuka's Star System! How he used the characters.
I think his jokes is a good material to talk about as well.
We all know the basic stuff now! haha.
30min is too short. We need more...

Anyway, I enjoyed and hope I can watch it again tomorrow.

Oh by the way, be carefull.
The page introducing the programme, there is a timetable,
but it doesn't look like it is correct.
Check the TV Schedule page.

My recommendation

It's been so long since I wrote the article last time.

Well, I am no longer in Japan now, so I can't read Manga,
but I can read it online!
It is all Japanese though, I'm afraid.

I would love all to read his works not only things translated.

What I strongly recommend is; (Sorry if it's benn already translated)
(Oh, no, surely I can't list up all my recommendations...)

Nanairo Inko(Rainbow Parakeet)(only in French)
Nanairo means 'seven colours' in Japanese, and Inko is 'Parakeet',
so some people say that the English title is Rainbow Parakeet.
The reason why it's 'Nanairo' is, this also means 'a lot' in Japanese.
Inko, the main character, can transform into lots of different appearances.
So, that is 'Nanairo', not just only 'Rainbow' because of its seven colours.
'Nanairo Inko' is his full name, so I don't want someone to translate it.

Senri detective is a lady following him all the time to arrest.
Obviously, she is in love with him. (Hope he is too!)

On the Internet, sometimes we call them 'Shichi Sen' which means seven thousands.
(I hope it's read Shich Sen, not Nana Sen. Nana also means seven.)
Shich is seven, and 'nana(iro)' is seven.
Sen is thousand, and 'Sen(ri)' is thousand.
We have other names to call them together.

Oh, I have to explain the story.
Inko is a theatre actor, and very good at acting, always the audiences are moved.
Also he is a thief who steals valuable stuff from rich people at theatre and so on.
He thinks that poor people pay money and rich people can pay a bit more.

I was so amazed how he thinks about acting on stage.
I wasn't really fond of plays but now I am.

Bukkira ni Yoroshiku!
You know Tezuka's Star System don't you?
Rock is one of the most popular actors I think.
(He must have earned lots of money from Osamu Tezuka!!)
And Rock is famous for its very dirty work. (especially in his late works.)

However, in this series, he is not really scary. (Well yes, he is sometimes.)
One of the main characters, called Toroko always causes troble and Rock is involved.
('Toro' can be 'Toroi', and it means slow, or dull...or stupid, maybe!)
She is easy-going and has no attractive.(well, I think she has though.)
However, she is on the TV, because while she is in a studio,
nothing happens, but once she is not there, some terrible things happen.

Then, you will see what Bukkira is.
I am not sure the meaning of Bukkira, but maybe it could be 'Bukkirabou'.
That means curt??(not sure the word because I looked up on my dictionary)
Maybe, in a easy word, it means unfriendly.

I like Rock in this series and Black Jack series the most.
They are completely different characters, but so cute in both works.
If you like Rock, or if you want to watch in a different way,
You should read this manga, 'Bukkira ni yoroshiku!'.

Oh I am very tired now.
Sorry for my poor English.
Hope it helps you when you choose what to read next!
(and hope it will be translated in near future!)

Why is it so popular?

Do you know anything about Black Jack or Tezuka Osamu?

Yes, Tezuka Osamu is famous for Astro boy.
He is a father of Anime, people say.

Well, let me talk about a bit of Black Jack.

Black Jack is a manga written by Tezuka Osamu during 70s and 80s.
I know, it's a quite old manga and people say old-fashion.
I won't deny it, but it is also true that people still read it and enjoy it.
Here, there is a secret why he is so popular.

How could people imagine so many things which didn't exsist at that time.
There are lots of problems in this world.
Black Jack shows us how the world will be.
At that time, people didn't care so much about the danger of the earth, our planet.
BUT he did. He mentioned so many things which we need to solve now.
Not only for nature, but for many things which we are now considering.

Why did he know the earth was danger?
Did he predict the future?
NO.
He just loved the earth, so he listened to the sound of nature.

It's seen in this manga Black Jack.

However, he said that he didn't write any philosophy things,
he just wrote an enthusiasm for quixotic adventure.
I am not sure whether this Japanese meaning is same as English, but he called it,
a Romance.

He wrote something which we need to solve now,
that's why people read it now as well.
It is one of the greatest mangas which shold be read over the generations.

Thanks

Ayuko

Tezuka Osamu

Hello It's Ayuko.
I decided to start this English Blog about Black Jack written by Tezuka Osamu.
English is not my first language, so I am sure that I will make lots of mistakes.
Please let me know if you find any mistakes.

The reason why I have started this blog '1031*BJ' is...
because I love Black Jack!!

I've known this since I was a junior high school student, but I wasn't fond of it at that time. I just thought it was interesting.
However, now when I read it, I found a lot of interesting points.
How difficult to understand everything.
Tezuka Osamu is called 'God of Manga', now I understand.

Well, so, I've been looking for some web sites or weblogs about this manga,
but I couldn't find many.
I want to know what or how foreign people think tihs.
Do they like it? or hate it?!
So that's why I've started this.
I am glad if this place will be a place where I can get some information.

I guess... I will start with introduction of Black Jack step by step.

Thanks.

Ayuko
